District Announcements
Make Up Days for Inclement Weather

Stafford County Schools announced the make-up plan for days missed to inclement weather thus far this school year.  Remember, school divisions in Virginia are required to complete either 180 days or 990 hours of school to meet the standards set by the Virginia Department of Education.

The Stafford County Schools 2014-2015 school calendar had 180 instructional days and 1030 hours of classroom time scheduled.  We have had five two-hour delayed openings and seven missed days.  This puts us in the negative approximately 6.7 hours.  Following the adopted calendar, the missed days (hours) are to be made up as follows:
*April 3, May 22 and June 10 will now become full days by removing the early releases scheduled for these days.
* June 15th will be added to the school year and will be the last day of school.
*Should we miss any more days for inclement weather, June 16th will be added to the school calendar.

The Stafford County School Board may vote to make alterations to this plan.  Should they do so, their decision will be shared with the community. Continue to watch our website at www.staffordschools.net for updates.
Communicable Diseases Update: Measles

The current outbreak of measles in the United States has been highly covered in the media and is of interest to our community.  To date, there have been no reported cases of measles in Virginia.  The Rappahannock Area Health District provides guidance to the school system during any public health situation.  Please click here for more information.
